When filling your gym with equipment, purchasing previously owned fitness equipment is a cost-effective solution. Remanufactured and refurbished machines can save you tons of money while providing a quality workout for each of your members. You may be wondering, what is the difference between remanufactured and refurbished fitness equipment? Or which one is right for your gym? AME Fitness Equipment is here to help you understand the difference between the two and help you figure out which one is best for you!

Let's start with remanufactured fitness equipment. The remanufacturing process makes the machine “like new.” This means that our certified remanufacturers strip down the whole machine, taking off all the old parts and leaving just the frame. We then replace all the old parts of the machines with new pieces. At AME Fitness Equipment, we completely rebuild all of our remanufactured fitness machines. Once we finish rebuilding the machines, we then put it through a thorough testing process. After the remanufactured machine passes testing, the piece of equipment is complete and ready to be sold.

As for refurbished fitness equipment, the process is similar to remanufactured but with a few changes. We strip down the machine just like the remanufactured one, however rather than replacing all of the old parts, we test them and make notes on which parts are broken or need to be replaced. We then replace all the needed parts and then reassemble the machine. Like remanufactured machines, refurbished equipment is put through a testing process before it is ready to be sold.

So which is better, remanufactured or refurbished? Well it's really up to you! Both types of fitness equipment offer similar pros and cons and are great ways to provide equipment in your gyms. Remanufactured equipment replaces all of the parts with new ones and may cost more. Whereas refurbished equipment replaces only the parts that need to be replaced. Thereby saving you a little more on cost when compared to a remanufactured piece of equipment. For example, a new treadmill can cost around $7,200. If you purchase the piece of equipment remanufactured, it can cost around $2,800. Or if you purchase the same fitness equipment refurbished, it will cost around $2,200. It is up to you on which machine you prefer but by purchasing either one of these pieces of equipment, you are sure to save money while providing quality machinery for your members.

At AME Fitness Equipment, we sell both refurbished and remanufactured equipment. No matter what type of product you wish to go with, at AME we can customize it so the colors match your gym!  Both are great choices and will allow you to provide fitness equipment for your gym members.
